Pakistan announces squad for ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025; Komal Khan to direct

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled the 15-man squad that will represent Pakistan in the coming time ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025scheduled to begin in Malaysia from 18 January to 2 February 2025. This announcement marks a significant step for Pakistan women’s cricket as they aim to make their mark on the international stage after their commendable performance in the inaugural 2023 tournament.

Komal Khan to lead Pakistan’s U19 women’s squad

Leading the squad is the dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman Komal Khanwho has been entrusted with the captaincy. Her vice-captain, Zoofishan Ayyazalso brings leadership experience, having captained the team in the recent U19 Asia Cup. The team selection reflects a mix of experience and new talent, with several players from the previous tournament returning to the squad.

Training camp set for December to January in Karachi

The team’s preparation includes a rigorous training camp at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Center in Karachi, which is set from December 31 to January 9, 2025. This camp is crucial for fine-tuning strategies, improving fitness and building team cohesion. After the camp, the team will fly out to Malaysia via Dubai on 10 January 2025 to acclimatize and participate in warm-up matches before the tournament begins.

Pakistan Group B Lineup and Tournament Schedule

Pakistan are placed in Group B along with formidable teams like England, Irelandand USA. Their campaign kicks off against the USA on January 18, followed by a game against England on January 20 and concludes their group stage against Ireland on January 22. The team’s performance in the group stage will determine their progression to the Super Six stage, where they will aim to secure a place in the semi-finals.

Coach Mohsin Kamalwho led the team to the Super Six stage of the 2023 tournament will once again guide this promising team. His experience and understanding of the U19 level is expected to be key to navigating through the challenges of the World Cup.
