Steve Kerr’s latest Stephen Curry Load Management remark explains the Warriors Star’s availability for future back-to-back games

Seventeen different starting lineups, experimenting with Stephen Curry’s minutes—Steve Kerr has tried it all. But their problems don’t go away. If all that wasn’t enough, one more has been added to their list. The 2x MVP’s career has been marked by his fair share of injuries. This season, however, it’s not a major, season-ending problem, but more of an ongoing knee problem. Curry’s knee has bothered him enough to keep him sidelined for some time.

He has openly talked about playing through the discomfort, which clearly adds to the concern. But the real gut punch came recently when Warriors head coach Steve Kerr dropped an update that left fans feeling uneasy.

Warriors fans weren’t exactly in the holiday spirit after their team battled LeBron James. While Kerr did not specify which games, he raised concerns about Curry’s injury management.

Appears on WillardAndDibs podcast, Kerr delivered the punch: “Steph has had the knee problem. A couple of weeks ago when the knee problem started we really wanted to make sure we stayed ahead of it. Part of staying ahead of it is not playing both ends of back-to-backs for now.”

Curry is reportedly still dealing with tendinitis in both of his knees, according to Kerr. On top of that, he missed a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2024-25 NBA Cup due to an ankle injury. And he won’t be playing against the Clippers on Friday night.

The Warriors are already 0-2 against the LA Clippers this season and things aren’t getting any easier. With Curry out and Draymond Green possibly joining him on the sidelines, Friday night will be a real grind.

After their hot start, Golden State has won just 3 of their previous 14 games. But the 4x champion still believes in his team.

Will the Warriors bring back their old form with Stephen Curry at the helm?

The Warriors’ once-promising 12-3 start has quickly turned into a .500 record. After their Christmas Day loss, they now sit at 15-14, just half a game ahead of the Spurs for 10th place in the crowded Western Conference.

Next, they face a tough seven-game stretch against playoff contenders. It starts with back-to-back matchups against the Clippers on December 27th and the Suns on December 28th. Plus, they won’t get the services of Curry against the Clippers.

Stephen Curry acknowledges the tough spot the Warriors are in, saying: “It’s a pivot point for what direction our season can go.” He’s right – after a tough 14-game stretch, it’s been nearly impossible to find consistency.

Still, ‘The Chef’ remains hopeful: “You just can’t lose spirit and believe that we’re a good enough team to figure it out because this league is ruthless.”

The Warriors have dug themselves into a hole, but Curry sees a chance to climb out before the All-Star break. If they don’t regain momentum in the next few weeks, they’ll find themselves chasing a playoff spot down the stretch, and as Curry points out, “No one wants to be there.”
