FIRST SEVERE WEATHER DAY IS IN EFFECT TODAY AND TONIGHT:

ONE First alarm weather day is in effect today and tonight as strong to severe thunderstorms are expected in parts of Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky. A growing storm system will approach from the southwest late this afternoon, bringing an area of ​​showers and thunderstorms to our area. Rain and storms will initially arrive over southwestern Middle Tennessee around 14:00 and spreads northeast towards Nashville around 4 p.m. Expect rain, lightning, thunder and possibly isolated strong gusts in the heaviest downpours. This area or rain/storms will continue to move northeast through the early evening.

From around 9 p.m., a stronger batch of thunderstorms will move in from the southwest. With this round of storms, damaging wind gusts, isolated tornadoes and isolated cases of localized flooding will be more likely. This round of storms will sweep across the Midstate and eventually leave the Cumberland Plateau region at 03.00. After 3 o’clock on Sunday morning, the serious threat is over.

A flash flood watch has been issued for southwestern Kentucky from 18.00 today until 9.00 tomorrow.
