Caleb Williams: I think going through this season will be good for me

One of the few bright spots in a dismal Bears season was snuffed out Thursday night.

Quarterback Caleb Williams threw an interception in their 6-3 loss to the Seahawks to end his rookie record of 353 straight pass attempts without being picked off. Avoiding interceptions was about the only thing the Bears offense has done well this season, and the rest of Thursday night was more of the same.

Williams was sacked seven times to move his season total to 67 sacks, and he went 16-of-28 for 122 yards while leading the Bears to seven punts on the night. Williams said he “didn’t help put the team in a good position to win,” and the Bears have now lost 10 straight games after a 4-2 start, so finding a positive spin seems difficult to put things on. However, Williams did his best to do so after the game.

“Frustrating, annoyed, but educational, I would say,” Williams said via a Seahawks transcript. “I definitely think this will be good for me. Excited about the last game and so excited for the future.”

The Bears will embark on a head coaching search as soon as Week 18 is out of the way, and that prospect is all anyone interested in the Bears can hang their hat on after a brutal 2024 in Chicago.
