Valdosta Fire Department responds to Christmas Day structure rescuing 5 dogs

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – The Valdosta Fire Department (VFD) responded to a residential building fire on Christmas Day.

The fire occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Clover Drive.

Firefighters arrived on scene within 4 minutes to find heavy smoke coming from the residence.

VFD reports the fire was quickly brought under control and five dogs were safely removed from the home.

No one was injured, but four occupants were displaced. All displaced residents are staying with family and the American Red Cross has been called in for assistance.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
