“This is the last straw”

Playboi Cartis fans recently started a petition to ban the rapper from all music platforms over unreleased music. On Thursday, December 26, 2024, fans started a Change.org petition, which said:

“(He) has consistently deceived and disappointed his loyal fan base by making empty promises about album releases.”

Under demands for accountability, the petition continued:

“This petition calls for (him) to be banned from all music platforms until he lives up to his promises and shows a genuine commitment to his fan base. If artists can’t maintain the trust of their listeners, they shouldn’t be allowed to profit from their loyalty.”

Playboi Carti aka Jordan Terrell Carter dropped his last studio project, Whole Lotta Red, in December 2020. It was delayed by two years due to songs being leaked.

According to an article by Hip Hop DX, last December, Playboi Carti took to his Instagram stories to share the words “I AM MUSIC,” which hinted at a new album that would possibly be released in 2024.

But as the year comes to an end, the album is still unreleased.

When news of the petition went viral, netizens were quick to react. One claimed:

“This is the final straw.”

Some came to Playboi Carti’s defense, asking users to give the rapper space and work at his own pace.

“he doesn’t owe you anything, just listen to another artist,” wrote one.

“If you do, I will definitely still follow and wait patiently for this album,” remarked another.

“B*tch, it’s not that serious, let artists live and give their art when they want,” commented one fan.

Others continued to call out the rapper and asked to boycott his music.

“Is he even a rapper at this point? Can we consider him one? Dude is canceling his concerts/festival appearances and he’s not dropping music. I guess those are the two things that would make you a rapper, right? ” asked one.

“As a carti fan I can get behind this,” another added.

“it’s crazy that it wasn’t his terrible music or his domestic abuse, it was that they didn’t get *more* music that’s bad*,” noted one user.

“Demonstrates a lack of respect for his fans’ time and support” – Petition slams Playboi Carti for defrauding fans

According to the petition on Change.org, the campaign currently has nearly 1,800 signatures. It explained it instead of releasing I am music, Playboi Carti shared “snippets, released random tracks on YouTube and Instagram and failed to deliver the album he promised.”

It further noted that December 27 was the last Friday of the year and “the traditional release day for new music.” However, there is no official word on the project’s release.

“This repeated cycle of unfulfilled commitments demonstrates a lack of respect for his fans’ time and support,” the petition read.

According to a report from XXL Magazine, on December 25, the four-year anniversary of Playboi Carti’s last album, Whole Lotta Red, Frustrated fans reportedly launched a website (iammusic2024.com) detailing every unfulfilled update from the rapper.

This included rumors of a Whole Lotta Red deluxe albums, song snippets, tour or performance delays and even audio updates.

It should be noted that during Rolling Loud: Miami (December 15), Playboi Carti debuted new music from the album. According to an article by Uproxx, he played five new songs: Walk, Cocaine Nose, Crush, Drugs Got Me Numb, and Lie.

Recently, several fans have taken to social media to start a “mass unfollowing” of the rapper if he doesn’t drop his new album.

However, internet personality DJ Akademiks claimed during his latest Twitch live stream that the album is “definitely coming” soon.

Playboi Carti has not publicly responded to the petition or claims to be following along en masse.
