Scoot comes up big as Blazers beat Jazz 122-120

After four quarters of back-and-forth play, with neither team able to gain a long advantage, it came down to a shootout between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Utah Jazz. And Scoot Henderson came up big and beat the Utah Jazz 122-120. The Blazers somewhat avenged their recent 42-point loss to the Jazz, thanks to a fun late-game push, shutting Utah down for 2 minutes while piling up points. Let’s dig in.

Blazer of the game: Shaedon Sharpe. He teamed up with honorable mention Deni Avdija to put the team on their backs and score against Utah’s limited defense while giving an extra effort on the other end. Sharpe and Avdija both scored 27 points.

State of the night: Dots in the paint. On a night where Utah actually shot better from three, the Blazers went in scoring 48 to Utah’s 34.

What we’ll remember: Scoot saves the day. The game itself was hard to watch; both teams looked like they are not in the playoff hunt. The Jazz came back and tied it in the final seconds. But Henderson was trusted to finish off Utah, and he did just that, to the roar of the crowd and his teammates. He scored 18 points overall on 50% shooting.
