A few strong storms possible tonight through Friday morning

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – It’s a foggy morning this day after Christmas, with a dense fog advisory in effect until 10am.

TODAY’S FORECAST

Cloudy skies will remain as temperatures warm into the mid-70s this afternoon, with a low chance of showers late in the evening and overnight as the cold front approaches.

SEVERE STORM THREAT

An approaching cold front from a system in Texas will allow for some strong storms late tonight into early Friday morning. The Storm Prediction Center has shown a slight (2/5) risk of severe weather extending from Dallas, TX to Lafayette, LA, and a marginal (1/5) risk of thunderstorms capable of producing hail , damaging winds and tornadoes.

The main concern with these storms is producing gusty winds and small hail early Friday morning.

Temperatures will continue to run well above normal through the final days of 2024. After the storm threat on both Friday and Saturday, temperatures will drop slightly into the low 70s and continue to trend lower into 2025, back into the 60s ‘s for afternoon highs.
