Carol Kirkwood immediately explained what happened after a man alarmingly pulled her in for a kiss on BBC Breakfast.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 62, was presenting a Christmas episode from Covent Garden when a man wearing reindeer antlers appeared off-camera and kissed her cheek.

Moments after Carol was caught off guard by the unexpected kiss, she assured viewers that the man in question was her ‘good friend’ and colleague Tim.

On Christmas Eve, Carol discussed celebrations as fake snow fell around her in central London as she spoke to Sally Nugent and Roger Johnson from the studio.

Carol, who was wearing mistletoe, then complained that the plant, which is associated with kissing over Christmas, ‘didn’t do any tricks this morning’, before Tim ran in for a surprise kiss and hug.

Carol looked momentarily shocked at the impromptu embrace and let out a scream before gasping, ‘Oh, I’m saying…Tim.’

Giggling, Carol reassured viewers: ‘It’s Tim, our science engineer. We are good friends. I didn’t expect that.’

Around this time last year, Carol married partner Steve Randall, 48, in a gorgeous Christmas wedding.

They joined us on Wednesday 27th December after ex-police officer Steve popped the question while on holiday.

Announcing the news on BBC Breakfast, Carol said it was ‘the most perfect and romantic and intimate’ wedding.

“We’re both so incredibly happy,” she added.

Earlier this year, Carol addressed malicious comments about their 12-year age difference – which she said would not happen if their genders were reversed.

“If our ages were reversed, no one would ever mention it,” she told the Express.

‘I’ve had a few comments but I don’t care.

‘We’ve moved on from the days when he might be described as my toyboy or people might call me a cougar.’

Carol and Steve have been together since 2021.

This is Carol’s second marriage as she was previously married to Jimmy Kirkwood for 18 years before splitting in 2008.

BBC Breakfast is broadcast from 06.00 on BBC One and iPlayer.
