Boxing Day 2024: Full list of Premier League 2024-25 fixtures for 26 December

While most of Europe’s top leagues take a break from tournaments during the festive period, England is in stark contrast. By tradition, it hosts one of the most special match days of the year just after Christmas, known as Boxing Day.

What is Boxing Day and why is it special?

Boxing Day, which is the day right after Christmas, is often known as a “second Christmas”. Its roots go back almost to the 19th century, when it was decided that if Christmas fell on a Sunday, workers could enjoy an extra day off and spend time with family and loved ones. Over time, Boxing Day has become one of the most loved and celebrated public holidays in the British calendar, with football playing a big part as fans are treated to a full day of action-packed football.

The first Boxing Day match is said to have been played between Sheffield and Hallam in 1860, but it was not until the 1888-89 season that the tradition began to take shape with a match between Preston North End and West Bromwich Albion.

As the Premier League prepares for another Boxing Day, here are the following December 26 fixtures in English top-flight football for the 2024-25 season.
