Lorraine Kelly shares plans to leave England with daughter in recording | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Lorraine Kelly has opened up about her love of the Orkney Islands in a candid admission following the publication of her first book.

The 65-year-old presenter spoke to The People’s Friend Special about where she thinks she will base herself in the future as she looks towards the end of her career.

She said she had discussed moving back to Orkney with her daughter Rosie, given Lorraine and her family’s close relationship with the place.

She said: “Rosie and I were talking about it the other day and we think eventually we’ll all end up coming back to Scotland. I miss Dundee a lot. Rosie loved it there and still does.”

Lorraine spoke in great detail during the interview about her beloved daughter Rosie, who has become a mother herself, and even told Lorraine about the pregnancy in Orkney.

Lorraine explained: “My daughter Rosie came with me and it was during the trip that she told me she was pregnant. It was the best, so exciting but I couldn’t tell anyone because it was so early.”

Despite her first novel, Øsvømmeren, having only just been published, Lorraine has admitted that she could already be working on another.

In a post on Instagram that accompanied a photo of her swimming in Orkney, she said: “I celebrated in Orkney with my lovely friend Nick when my first novel The Island Swimmer became a bestseller this year!

“THANK YOU to everyone who bought the book – I’ve been overwhelmed by your lovely comments – it’s on sale right now if you need a little extra Christmas press. I’m hard at work on the follow up!”

As well as discussing her latest and future novels, Lorraine has spoken to others about her 40 years in television, a period which has seen her become one of the country’s most famous faces.

She told Yorkshire Post on her future and how she feels about getting older: “I want to keep doing my show as long as people want to watch. I want to keep doing my show as long as people want to watch it.

“I didn’t expect to still be here (on TV) at 65, but I’m so happy to be doing the job I love after 40 years. It’s wonderful and it’s down to all the amazing people I’ve worked with with, my top team and the viewers who have been so loyal and shown me such support.

“I think age is just a number – I’m lucky at work to be surrounded by a young enthusiastic team who are amazing and they keep me young. I eat what I like and I walk my little dog and try to stay as healthy as possible.”
