It’s a Tyler, The Creator and Kendrick Lamar crossover!

The Chromacopy artist gifted fans Christmas Day with a new video called “That Guy” where he raps over Lamar’s GNX the track “Hey Now”. He announced the release in a post on X (formerly Twitter)in which he responded to a comment from November asking him to freestyle with Lamar’s hit.

“merry christmas. had fun with it,” Tyler wrote, linking to the video.

Referring to the success of his eighth and latest album, Tyler raps: “Hey now, say now, get sticky like a she bun / You’ll never be the main character, you’re a plus-one / 300k in four days Chromacopy / 12 days of gold, I don’t even drop the deluxe one.”

The clips show him walking around his hometown of Hawthorne, California, dancing in the streets and showing off his success with a Ferrari and designer clothes. He also included a verse about his surprise appearance at Lamar’s The Pop Out: Ken & Friends concert in Los Angeles in June.

“Lil bunny hop out, you saw me at Pop Out / Pandemonium screaming like they brought Pac out,” he says.

Finally, the video shows Tyler, 33, with his former Odd Future members Jasper Dolphin and Travis “Taco” Bennett before cameras cut to black.

The comments flowed with excitement from fans, with one saying: “tyler on Kendrick’s beat is the best Christmas present.”

Another wrote: “You can tell Kendrick really inspires him and love how he’s going back to his roots where it all started in Hawthorne, CA with some AF members/friends. it’s like a full circle moment too. happy on his behalf.”

Also on December 25, Tyler paid tribute to his debut album, which was released on this day in 2009.

“BASTARD came out 15 years ago. thanks to everyone who’s listened to anything over the years.” He wrote on X. “was in such a different zone musically and as a person but was determined to be who I am today. full of gratitude because it all came true. earl and I are going to do ASSMILK; I did Odd Toddlers at coachella main stage how crazy?! this album was made at 16-18. what a time!”

In October, Tyler announced a world tour for Chromacopy in one minute long video with Lil Yachty and the punk-rap duo Paris Texas. Performances begin in February 2025 and are set to run until July 2025.

Lamar also announced that he would be touring with SZA in 2025, with the two co-headlining major stages around the US from April to June.
