Shelter-in-place lifted at Sky Harbor Airport late Christmas Eve

An active police operation brought confusion to Terminal 4 at Phoenix Sky Harbor on Christmas Eve.

A shelter-in-place order forced travelers to wait in the pickup and drop-off area of ​​Terminal 4, unable to enter the building.

Inside, caution tape was put up by Phoenix Police.

Police responded to a report of shots fired at Terminal 4 around 21:41. According to a statement from Sky Harbor Airport, operations at the terminal and on the Phoenix Sky Train were suspended for precautionary measures.

The order was lifted around 10:30 p.m., and airport officials said operations had returned to normal.

A witness at the scene said he saw a woman being taken away from the scene on a stretcher, but this has not been confirmed.

Terminal 4 is the airport’s main hub for Southwest Airlines and American Airlines.
