Beyoncé pokes fun at Netflix’s past live-streaming blunders during NFL holiday season

Beyonce is ready to touch.

One day from her NFL halftime performance for Netflix at the Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans game this Christmas, the decorated musician released a slick teaser trailer. She parks a runaway football with her stiletto pump in the clip posted on social media Tuesday.

The crowd roars as the camera pans up to reveal the “Crazy In Love” singer strumming a banjo to the tune of her latest country crossover hit “Texas Hold ‘Em.” Finally, the screen buffers — a nod to Netflix’s past live streaming woes — and resumes, with Bey giving a devilish wink.

Netflix replied humorously to Beyoncé’s post, writing “hold on…” and changing its account bio to “roasted by beyoncé 12/24/24.”

The Grammy-winning singer, dancer and businesswoman hails from Houston, the Texans’ hometown and the site of Wednesday’s game. It makes her hiatus show a homecoming, but the entire nation will be able to tune in — at least for a few hours.

The Ravens-Texans game begins streaming at 4:30 PM ET/1:30 PM PT. Under the terms of Netflix’s new deal with NFLthe two Christmas games (the other being the Chiefs vs. Steelers starting at 1 p.m. PT/10 a.m. PT) expire three hours after the live stream ends. That means curtain call for the Beyhive is at 11pm ET/8pm PT.

The singer released her latest album, Cowboy Carterin March. She has yet to perform the album live, making this Houston homecoming an excellent opportunity for a premiere.

Cowboy Carter led off the year’s board Grammy nominationsthat received 11 nods, including the coveted Record, Song and Album of the Year trifecta. Beyoncé already held the title for the most Grammy wins in history, but this year earned her another crown as the most nominated artist in Grammy history.

The album marks the singer’s first full-length foray into country music, but it served her well no nominations at last month’s Country Music Association awards, as another pop-country swagger Kelly Clarkson called “fascinating”, because “those songs were everywhere.”

As for Netflix, the streamer has faced criticism when previous live events ran into technical issues. Season 4 review of Love is blind was delayed by 45 minutes in April 2023 and part of last month’s live streamed match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul failed.

With Queen Bey on the court, the stakes are higher than ever for a smooth streaming experience. Watch the new teaser above.
