Shoppers rush to Eastview Mall for last-minute Christmas shopping

Victor, NY (WHAM) – The clock is ticking for last minute holiday shopping as shoppers rushed to Eastview Mall Tuesday to get gifts before the big man in red makes an appearance.

When talking to these shoppers, they say Christmas Eve is like the Super Bowl for people who wait until the last minute to shop.

The doors to Eastview Mall closed at 6 p.m. Tuesday, and customers shopped until they dropped.

Trent Paskins says he comes here every Christmas Eve.

“We had some last minute shopping, which is pretty normal for us. We do that every Christmas Eve at the mall,” Paskins continued. “It’s always looking for things for mom. We have all the things we need, but we had to get mom shopping today and it took four hours.”

Paskins tells me that everything he needs for Christmas is right here, even the presents being wrapped.

“For now we can go home and relax,” Paskins said. “We don’t have to wrap our presents, go out to eat, enjoy ourselves tonight. That’s one less thing on the plate for tomorrow morning, right?”

Foot traffic in the mall was slow, making it easy for customers to get in and out.

“Busy, streamlined, thankfully, ironically, and I’m very impressed with how polite and courteous people are in general as a New York state,” Ken Gilfus said. “But this year it has been the exact opposite.”

The street of last-minute shopping can be a deal breaker for some, but these customers had nothing but cheers to share.

“Just keep spreading the peace and the joy,” Gilfus said. “Tis the season.”

“Merry Christmas, Mom,” Easton DiNardo said.

Paskins concluded. “Oh everyone, have a wonderful holiday and wish everyone the best.”

Just a reminder, many stores, including Eastview Mall, will be closed Wednesday
