There is plenty of intrigue surrounding both schools in this game. San Jose State had a flurry of close games during the season, including a 21-point loss to Boise State that was tied at halftime. In addition Spartans‘ head coach, Ken Niumatalolo, is a native Hawaiian who would love nothing more than to show off for his home state.

On the other hand, USF is making its second bowl game in as many years, a testament to head coach Alex Golesh’s ability to turn the program around after they had won just four games combined in the three years prior to his arrival. USF was able to decimate Syracuse in the Boca Raton Bowl, 45-0, last year, so maybe San Jose State will have to take Taurus more seriously than it has taken some of its other opponents.
