Dane Key to Nebraska; Chip Trayanum to Toledo

The Kentucky Wildcats have been active on the transfer portal thus far as they look to rebuild after going 4-8 this season. It has also meant that they have seen quite a bit of attrition from the guard this past year in Lexington.

That includes top wide receiver Dane Key, who is now taking his talents to Nebraska Cornhuskers, he announced on Christmas Eve via Twitter. The key will be having one season of eligibility remaining.

The Lexington native finished this past season with career highs in receptions (47) and receiving yards (715 yards) while catching two touchdowns. Key finishes his Kentucky career with 126 catches for 1,870 yards and 14 scores.

The Georgia Bulldogs were once seen as the favorites for Key when he entered the portal, but he will instead reunite with wide receivers coach Daikiel Shorts, who left Kentucky in the offseason to take the same job in Lincoln.

Another of the Wildcats who entered the portal this offseason was running back Chip Trayanum. After coming to Lexington last season from Ohio StateTrayanum will return to the Buckeye State to finish his collegiate career.

According to a report from Pete Nakos of On3Trayanum has committed to Toledo for next season.

An injury in fall camp kept Trayanum out for most of this past season, and he was never really able to make the impact many thought he would in Lexington. But BBN will still get another opportunity to see Trayanum take the field at Kroger Field when the Rockets open the season with the Cats in September.

Good luck at Trayanum in Toledo!
