Heavy police presence after shots fired at Castleton Square Mall – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis police responded to calls of an active shooter Monday night at Castleton Square Mall on the city’s northeast side.

Nearly 40 minutes after the initial calls, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in a post on the X platform that all shoppers have evacuated the mall and “At this time, no injuries have been reported.”

Later posts on X said, “IMPD does not believe there is any threat to public safety in or near the mall at this time.”

“IMPD officers will continue to be at the mall for the next few hours to investigate what led to shots being fired inside the mall.”

An initial post on X said: “IMPD is responding to an incident at Castleton Square Mall. Shoppers can expect a high police presence near the mall and surrounding parking lots. Updates to come.”

IMPD was dispatched to a report of shots fired Monday at 20.29. Indianapolis medics were dispatched about 5 minutes later on a report of an active shooter.

The mall is at 6020 E. 82nd St. It was set to close at 21.00 Monday.

No other details were immediately available.
