Earlier this year, Bynes posted a message on Instagram about going through a breakup.

“Am I the only one trying to win their ex back with every Instagram post?” she asked in a now-deleted Instagram Story on April 22. “Let me know if I’m the only one,” Bynes added.

Although she didn’t specify which ex she was referring to, the “Easy A” alum was most recently linked to Paul Michael, who she was engaged to from 2020 to 2021. They continued their on-and-off relationship until 2022.

The pair met while in rehab and Michael previously revealed how they bonded.

“She’s a good listener and we’re there for each other,” he said in a 2020 interview with E! News. “We have the best time and I love spending every second with her. She is the best thing that ever happened to me.”

While it’s unclear why the couple broke up, reports claimed last year that Bynes’ family felt Michael wasn’t good for the former actress.

A source told Daily Mail that doctors had advised Bynes to “keep her distance” from Michael.

They explained that her loved ones were convinced that the former couple’s split significantly affected Bynes, causing her to have a breakdown in 2022, which led to her being placed in a psychiatric team.
