Google ( GOOGL ) blasts Chrome sales as “extreme” means at odds with the law

Alphabet Inc.’s Google called a U.S. Justice Department plan to force it to sell its web browser “extreme” and against the law, urging a federal court judge to be careful not to stifle innovation and future investment.

In one lawsuit late Friday, Google responded to the DOJ’s request and proposed its own remedy. The company said the proposed Chrome sale doesn’t fit the company’s conduct, which the judge found illegal — which involved exclusive contracts with browsers, smartphone makers and telcos.
