Jake Majors, Quintrevion Wisner injury update: ESPN gives update on Texas starters

Just before the break, three important injuries occurred Texas during Saturday College football playoff first round game vs. Clemsonand all on the same game. Jake Majors, Cameron Williamsand Quintrevion Wisner had to leave the game before entering the halftime locker room. The trio are critical of what Steve Sarkisian likes to do on the offensive end.

ESPN’s Laura Rutledge provided an all-around update out of the break, starting with good news about the Texas running back.

“That’s the good news,” Rutledge said. “You see Quintrevion Wisner out there after he dealt with injuries at the end of the first half.

Jaydon Blue played the final drive of the first half for Texas, but Wisner is out there to start the third quarter. He has been a rock for the Longhorns since taking over as the primary ball carrier, flashing two touchdowns early against Clemson. Getting him back is huge news.

Moving on to a couple of bad updates – neither Majors nor Williams entered the game to start the second half. Majors came out of the locker room late, causing some reshuffling of the entire Texas offensive line.

“This Texas o-line is going to look different. Jake Majors, the center that’s so important to this team, still hasn’t come back out here. We’ll see Hayden Conner in as the center. Backup center Cole Hutson in at left guard. Trevor Goosbyimpressive, is at the right tackle. But guys, he can also play left.

Conner slides over from left guard, while Hutson is now part of the Texas Five. He was able to contribute early in his career on 40 Acres and will be no stranger to the moment.

There is some confidence in what Goosby can do at tackle. As Rutledge mentioned, he did well on the left side when he replaced Kelvin Banks due to his own injury. Sarkisian praised the second-year player heading into Georgia matchup.

“I really thought we controlled the line of scrimmage tonight,” Sarkisian said after the Texas A&M game. “I was really proud of Trevor Goosby when Kelvin went down. He stepped in for his first real action and I thought he did well in a not easy environment to do that.”
