A video of a man spraying bug spray on produce at a Walmart in Mesa is making the rounds on social media.

The original video, uploaded to Instagram and TikTok by a user known as Wolfie Kahletti, has since been deleted, but reposts are circulating online.

Kahletti filmed himself spraying a can of Hot Shot Ultra Bed Bug & Flea Killer on various fresh foods for sale at the Walmart located on Stapley and Baseline roads.

The Mesa Police Department confirmed they were notified of the incident Friday and are investigating. According to Mesa police spokesman Richard Encinas, Kahletti has not yet been taken into custody.

“There is no arrest or you would know already,” Encinas told The Arizona Republic.

The video shows Kahletti spraying the pesticide on bananas, yams, lemons, limes, tomatoes, rotisserie chicken and other fruits.

In a statement provided to The Republic, director of Walmart Corporate Communications Kelsey Bohl said, “We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused our customers while we work to resolve this issue. We will continue to work closely with law enforcement during their investigation.”

Both Walmart Media Relations and Mesa Police confirmed that store management was notified, the contaminated products were removed, and the affected areas are being cleaned and disinfected.

Kahletti has since uploaded two videos to her respective social media accounts with the captions, “Fooled u”, “Threw them away” and “Promise I threw them away”.

The videos show him taking large quantities of products from the shelves, loading them into a shopping cart and pushing the cart to an unspecified location in Walmart.

Kahletti told The Republic that all products were “thrown away right after” and that “no one was poisoned.” This claim has not been confirmed by the authorities.
