Apple is launching three new Home products next year, here’s what’s coming

The year is almost over and Apple’s planning for 2025 will bring a big new push in home products. Here are three Home devices expected to launch in the new year.

Brand new ‘HomePad’ device

HomePod with display concept

Perhaps the most exciting new Home product in 2025 is Apple’s currently unnamed ‘HomePad’ device.

As reported by Mark Gurman:

Apple … is nearing the launch of a new product category: a wall-mounted display that can control appliances, handle video conferencing and use AI to navigate apps … The device has a screen of about 6 inches and looks like a square iPad. It’s the size of two iPhones side by side, with a thick border around the screen. There’s also a top front camera, a rechargeable built-in battery and internal speakers.

Some of HomePad’s core features are expected to include:

  • heavy Apple Intelligence focus with an upgraded Siri
  • Standby-like widgets, Home app controls and more
  • slideshow from the Photos app
  • built-in security camera and video/audio intercom plus FaceTime
  • runs Apple apps like Safari, Music and Notes

As I’ve written elsewhere, this sounds like exactly the kind of home device I’d love to have.

Gurman reported that the HomePad was expected in March, while Ming-Chi Kuo believes it will arrive later this year. Either way, 2025 is the expected arrival of this new Home device category for Apple.

New Apple TV 4K

tvOS 18.2 RC

It’s been a few years since the last Apple TV 4K debuted, and Apple plans to debut a new version in 2025.

Details on the revised Apple TV 4K are scarce, but at a minimum we expect:

  • Apple Intelligence support
  • an A18 or A17 Pro chip to support AI
  • new in-house Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip

It is likely that Apple will also offer support for newer TV display technologies. But aside from these features, the new Apple TV 4K will likely retain the same basic form factor and OS as the existing hardware.

HomePod mini 2

HomePod mini

The big HomePod is on its second generation, but the HomePod mini is still the same first-generation version that launched in 2020.

In 2025, however, we will get the first ever HomePod mini 2.

Apart from a release window and the inclusion of Apple’s new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip, we know nothing about the new HomePod mini.

It’s possible that Apple will find a way to bring full Apple Intelligence support to the device. I hope it happens.

But the company could also take a different approach by letting the HomePod mini 2 integrate more closely with your iPhone or other devices like the HomePad. Essentially, it would stay focused on being an affordable smart speaker, but get some of its smarts from devices nearby. Expect more details about the HomePod mini 2 to leak in the coming months.

Apple home product packaging

Apple’s big new push into the smart home market follows years of Apple treating home products as a hobby. I hope the company has a compelling new strategy for its home lineup – there’s a lot of potential here.

If Apple is able to build a powerful home ecosystem, it could lead to even more new products moving forward, like an AirPort revival.
