SOUTH BEND – Notre Dame football suffered two key injuries during its first-round College Football Playoff game against Indiana on Friday.

Starting right guard Rocco Spindler and starting defensive tackle Rylie Mills both suffered injuries. Spindler played a handful of series before coming out and was eventually seen in street clothes for the second half. It was unclear what injury Spindler sustained.

Sam Pendleton entered the game to replace Spindler. Pendleton started the first seven games of the season at left guard.

Mills injured his knee while recording a sack on the Irish’s first defensive snap of the second half. He limped off the field with the help of some Notre Dame staff.

Mills is a sixth-year player and has played in 62 games for the Irish, the third-most in program history. Gabriel Rubio and Armel Mukam are the listed backups for Mills on the depth chart.
