Fans brave the cold as the Notre Dame-Indiana rivalry heats up ahead of kickoff

It has been going strong since early Friday morning, and fans who want to be a part of this historic matchup.

Hundreds of fans were out bright and early – and the cold temperatures show no signs of slowing down Irish and Hoosier fans alike.

Blue, gold and green seem to dominate most tailgate areas, but cream and crimson are also out in large numbers.

Scott Selensky, a longtime Notre Dame South Bend resident whose daughter attends Indiana University, says today is a win-win.

“I thought we were done, been out here in this exact spot every home game this year and I never thought we’d be here again, I knew we had a good season but I didn’t know what it would look like . A lot of things fall into place, then Notre Dame playing IU, it’s a great moment for the state,” Selensky said.

There’s also a brand new RV, dubbed the BAR-V, being unveiled by the team at Coachmen RV. This new vehicle caters to tailgaters with an outdoor bar and service window.

Max Keagle with Coachmen says this game is exciting for our area.

“It’s a very unique experience and it’s really a big part of our community and it’s really intertwined with our area, everybody’s a part of it. So when you get to be a part of it with the community with things like a fun BAR-V or even just being in the big lot, It’s a really exciting day and it’s really cool that people are paying attention to little old South Bend,” Keagle said.
