Costco is making a big change to its food court in 2025

Things are heating up at the Costco food court.

According to several experts on social media, in the new year Costco will replace Pepsi products in its soda fountains with Coca-Cola drinks.

“After over a decade, Costco is switching back from Pepsi to Coke products in its stores,” Costco Insider Instagram Account posted, adding that the change will see the introduction of Coke, Coke Zero, Diet Coke, as well as Sprite in place of Starry.

The rumor was also mentioned on Reddit, where one user said their “well-placed source” claimed the change will be coming soon.

“Good news to my fellow Costco happy (diet) Coke drinkers. My well placed source said ‘early 2025′” said the post.

A few people in the comments on Reddit reiterated that the rumor was true, although there has been no official word from the warehouse yet. Posten has contacted Costco to confirm.

Instagram user Ryan Quinlan, creator of the popular account @butthatsmyopinion, claimed in a video that Costco will end their partnership with Pepsi in the new year.

People in the comments sections had mixed reactions — and brought up the big Pepsi vs. Coca-Cola debate up.

As Costco Insider pointed out, the warehouse originally switched to Pepsi in 2013 as a cost-cutting way to keep their hot dog and soda combo at $1.50.

Costco and Coca-Cola had a standoff in 2009 when the retailer pulled all Coke products for a month. The brand eventually lowered their prices, allowing the switch back, the account said.

“Coke’s focus on machine quality and partnership with Costco is likely driving the change.”

This isn’t the only change Costco has made as the year winds down.

Earlier this month, a shopper spotted a sign at their local store showing the changes being made to Costco muffins.

The bakery is switching to smaller muffins and will no longer offer mix-and-match muffins. Instead of mixing and matching two 35-ounce six-packs of the larger muffins for $9.99, department stores sell a 31-ounce eight-pack of an individual flavor for $6.99.

In addition, Costco plans to stop selling books in most of its US stores at the beginning of the year.

In January, Costco will remove the store’s popular book section from the majority of its 600-plus stores.
