Rep. DeLauro rages against ‘President’ Musk after Republicans abandon bipartisan funding deal

WASHINGTON DC (WFSB) – Rep. Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut’s Third District delivered fiery remarks in response to the failure of a funding bill meant to keep the government running.

The US House of Representatives rejected a plan supported by President-elect Donald Trump.

Democrats and dozens of Republicans said they refused to accede to Trump’s sudden demands.

“The American public has demanded that this body work together, Democrats and Republicans across the aisle, to do what is in the best interest of the American people,” DeLauro said in a statement Thursday night.

DeLauro said they worked hard over the last few weeks and they actually agreed to a deal.

“And you know what? They got scared because ‘President’ Musk told them, ‘President’ Musk said ‘don’t do it. Don’t do it. Shut down the government,” DeLauro shouted on the House floor. “Imagine! What does he know about what people go through when the government shuts down. Are his employees fired? Hell no. Is he fired? Nobody.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson said they would regroup and come up with another solution.

Deadline is midnight Saturday.
