Wrexham predicted XI vs Bristol Rovers as Paul Mullins decision made, Phil Parkinson leaves out ‘frustrated’ star

Wrexham need a win over Bristol Rovers to keep their push for automatic promotion going.

In their last League One clash, Wrexham were held to a 2-2 draw by Cambridge United.

Cambridge are in danger of relegation this season but more than held their own at the Racecourse Ground.

Paul Mullin described Cambridge as a frustrating result and the Welsh outfit will be desperate to avoid a similar blow against another struggling team.

Bristol Rovers recently sacked their manager, with a potential relegation point heading their way for the side who sit 20th in the division with just 21 points from 19 games.

The meeting with The Pirates takes place at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 21 at Memorial Stadium. Here’s everything you need to know about Wrexham before they take on Bristol Rovers.

Wrexham squad and injury news ahead of Bristol Rovers clash

After a lot of problems over the last few months, Phil Parkinson has received some much needed good news on the injury front this week.

Jack Marriott is ahead of schedule in his injury recovery after suffering a broken leg in October that was expected to keep him out until mid-February.

Parkinson also provided a positive injury update for Arthur Okonkwo this week, although both stars are still set to miss the Bristol Rovers clash.

Elsewhere, George Evans will return to Wrexham very soon, with the midfielder set to feature over the festive period after an extended spell on the sidelines.

James Jones, Callum Burton and Luke Bolton will all miss the game through injury, while Anthony Forde remains unable to play.

Wrexham predicted lineup against Bristol Rovers

Despite drawing with a side in the bottom half of the table at home, Parkinson is not expected to make too many, if any, changes to his starting line-up.

Wrexham fans sent a positive message to Mullin after he failed to score again last time out.

The forward now has just one goal in 18 league games and while Elliot Lee has not been great as a makeshift number nine, it seems Parkinson has decided the midfielder is a better option than the club’s record goalscorer.

Elsewhere, although Lewis Brunt conceded a penalty and Wrexham conceded twice, Parkinson will probably stick with the same back-five that started against Cambridge.

Earlier, Dan Scarr was ‘frustrated’ with his Wrexham minutes and has not featured in the club’s last five league games – a streak that is likely to continue this weekend.

Here’s how we think the Red Dragons will line up against Bristol Rovers on Saturday…

Mark Howard (GK)

Max Cleworth, Eoghan O’Connell, Lewis Brunt

Ryan Barnett, Matty James, George Dobson, Ollie Rathbone, James McClean

Elliot Lee, Ollie Palmer
