Moses Moody out, Ja Morant questionable for Warriors vs. Grizzlies

The Golden State Warriors are back in action tonight after a short hiatus as they host the Memphis Grizzlies at 7 p.m. 5 p.m. PT. It’s the start of a new era for the Dubs, who will welcome point guard Dennis Schröder to the fold after a trade this weekend. Schröder is expected to start and it will be fun to see how the lineups look with him around.

Here is the full damage report.

Warriors

Out – Moses Moody (left knee patella tendonopathy)

Moody’s knee injury is sure to last longer than Golden State expected. This is his third absence in a row, after two games in which he left the game before half-time. That, combined with the season’s tournament break, means Moody hasn’t played a full game since Dec. 5. Hopefully he will be back to full strength soon.

Grizzlies

Out – Jay Huff (left ankle sprain)

Huff is in his fourth NBA season and on his fourth team. But fourth time’s the charm as he’s having his best season by far and looks like a definite NBA rotation fixture. He shouldn’t be out too long with his ankle injury.

Out — GG Jackson II (right fifth metatarsal repair)

Jackson had an excellent rookie season last year, averaging 14.6 points per game. fight despite being a second rounder. He really took advantage of all the injuries that Memphis had. Unfortunately, he suffered one of those injuries this year as he had off-season surgery and has yet to make his season debut.

Out – Vince Williams Jr. (right ankle sprain)

Williams has really struggled with injuries this year, playing in just three games in his third season. Hopefully he can get back on the field soon.

Questionable – Marcus Smart (left shoulder soreness)

It’s always fun to watch smart guard Steph Curry, though I’m guessing Curry will be pretty happy if he doesn’t have to go up against one of the league’s leading defenders on every possession.

Questionable – Ja Morant (lower back pain)

The difficult 2023-2024 Grizzlies season finally brought home the foolish notion that they were somehow better when their All-Star point guard couldn’t play. A healthy Morant is vital to Memphis’ chances of success, and the Warriors won’t shed any tears if he can’t play.
