Fans can expect to see plenty of pre-wedding festivities, including dress and suit fittings, as well as bachelor and bachelorette parties. “The pre-wedding planning, the bachelor and bachelorette party, the rehearsal dinner” all precede the grand finale, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told Tudum.

Smith too said that there will be “new directions” for fan-favorite characters like Preacher, Brady and Kaia, along with surprise appearances by returning cast members and a new mystery character. “The big new mystery character this season is Mel’s biological father, Everett Reid, who is carrying a long-kept secret,” he added.

Netflix’s official synopsis for Season 6 reads: “Set against the backdrop of Mel and Jack’s romantic spring wedding season, this sixth episode promises new twists, escalating love triangles, delightful wedding drama, and uncovered secrets from Mel’s father’s past that will transport us to the magic and mystery of the Virgin River in the 1970s.”

Lead stars Kate Breckenridge and Martin Henderson have reprized their roles in the new season alongside Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole, Colin Lawrence, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Zibby Allen, Sarah Dugdale and more. Newcomers Jessica Rothe and Callum Kerr will portray young Sarah and Everett, Mel’s parents, in flashback scenes set in the 1970s.
