But when fans entered the arena for the 82-year-old’s second concert tonight, they were shocked to see Sir Ringo Starr.

He was snapped arriving and sitting in the VIP section at North Greenwich to watch Sir Paul perform.

As an added delight, Sir Ringo joined his former bandmate on stage during his set, playing drums.

The 84-year-old was dressed in black as he wore his trademark black shades for the special performance.

During the show, fans were also treated to Sir Paul and Ronnie Wood performing Get Back together.

Let It Be singer Paul’s proud son James McCartney, 47, was spotted attending the VIP section of the audience.

Hollywood’s biggest stars also descended to hear Sir Paul perform his biggest hits from his own successful solo career and The Beatles’ catalogue.

On social media, fans shared snaps with George Clooney, Judi Dench, Martin Freeman and Professor Brian Cox.

Earlier this week The Sun reviewed Sir Paul’s tour when he appeared in Manchester.

“I have a feeling we’re going to have a good time tonight,” cheered Sir Paul McCartney as he greeted the capacity crowds at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena.

“Okay Manchester,” he said, “it’s good to be back.”

It was a show filled with fireworks – literally snow – albeit the paper kind, and a tearful performance of I’ve Got A Feeling with an AI version of his late The Beatles bandmate, John Lennon.

In one of a handful of touching moments on stage, the icon fought back tears as he hailed it “amazing because I get to sing with John again.”
