Frito-Lay is reminiscent of Lay’s classic potato chips

Frito-Lay issued a recall on Dec. 16 for a limited number of 13-ounce bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips, according to a warning issued by the Food and Drug Administration. The chips were distributed to various stores and online outlets in Oregon and Washington where customers could purchase the snacks starting November 3, 2024.

Lay’s Classic Potato Chips were the only ones included in the recall. No other products, flavors, sizes or different packages are involved.

Why is Lay’s potato chips being recalled?

The chips may contain undeclared milk, Frito-Lay said after being informed by a consumer.

“Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product,” the FDA said.

No allergic reactions have been reported in connection with the recall.

Which Lay’s potato chips are affected?

The recalled chips are in flexible 13-ounce bags with UPC codes 28400 and 31041. Affected bags must have a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of February 11, 2025 and one of the following two production codes: 6462307xx or 6463307xx.

What should you do if you have a recalled product?

People with a recalled bag can contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations at 1-800-352-4477 between 9:00 am and 4:30 pm CST, Monday through Friday.

Anyone who is allergic or sensitive to milk should not eat chips and throw out affected bags.
