Steam Winter Sale 2024 start time and first discounted games list confirmed

Steam’s Winter Sale is almost here, and a huge number of games are expected to be discounted – we’ve got the first few here, as well as the start time for savings

The Steam sale is back

The Steam Autumn Sale started less than a month ago, but it’s already time to do it all again.

The Winter Sale often has more discounts than the Fall Sale, offering games that came out in the same calendar year at a discount, such as Game of the Year Winner Baldur’s Gate 3 in 2023.

So load up your Steam wishlist and make sure your card details are up to date – if you do, you’ll get a notification when an item you’re interested in goes on sale, meaning you can skip the wait and buy (and play) before.

Oh, and while you’re here, don’t forget Epic Games also gives away free games every week, with another one coming today!

Here’s when the Steam Winter Sale 2024 starts today.

Steam Winter Sale start time

The Steam Winter Sale starts on December 19, less than a month after the Fall Sale, and compared to previous sales, it starts at 18:00 GMT for UK players.

Valve has confirmed that the deals will run until January, so you’ll be in luck if you get Steam gift cards for Christmas next week.

Valve’s sales trailer shared last week showed a bit of what we can expect.

Here’s everything we saw in the trailer:

  • Metal Slug Tactics
  • Assassin’s Creed: Mirage
  • Core guardian
  • Carx Street
  • Helldivers 2
  • Manor lords
  • The last of us part 1
  • Castle Crashers
  • Planet Coaster 2
  • TCG Card Shop Simulator
  • Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Final Fantasy XVI
  • Sonic x Shadow Generations

We can also see the likes of Remnant II, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Little Kitty Big City, Detroit Become Human, Mafia, Mortal Kombat 1 and more from the picture at the end.

It looks like titles like TCG Shop Simulator will get their first sale discounts.

We’re not sure if we’ll see Steam Deck discounts though. Valve’s handheld comes in LCD and OLED variants, and the former is apparently low on stock. So far, the Steam sale has only discounted the LCD models.
