WPOC Baltimore’s Laurie DeYoung Morning Show is coming up. | History

Laurie DeYoung, who has hosted mornings for iHeartMedia country WPOC Baltimore, MD (93.1) for 39 years, will host her final show in that daytime slot on Saturday, December 21st. DeYoung announced the news during his show Tuesday morning. Later in a series of comments on a Facebook postshe clarified that she is not retiring. “From February I will be doing a short weekend show,” she wrote. “I will also be at some station events here and there, possibly.”

DeYoung joined WPOC in 1985 and was named CMA’s Biggest Market Personality of the Year in 1994. “I had been in radio for ten years when I came to town,” she wrote in a 2020 blog post reflects on her 35th anniversary with the station. “This was my ninth radio station, but the first one I worked at played country music.” She began her career in 1975 with WMUZ Detroit (103.5).

DeYoung was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame in 2010.
