Romford cueist Selt shouted “OH MY GOD!” as Zizins was red-balled in the final frame of their best-of-nine encounter.

Zizins tried to put the ball in the upper right pocket, only for it to ricochet into the jaws.

To Selt’s horror, however, the ball then seeped over the top cushion and fell into the opposite corner.

As Selt watched the scene unfold, he bellowed “Oh my God!”

He seemed to shake his head in disgust.

When Zizins then went to clear the colors, having secured a 5-4 victory, the irreverent Selt, 39, rose from his chair, shook hands and packed his cue box.

A puzzled Zizins awkwardly told Selt “Have a Merry Christmas”, only to laugh along with his enraged rival and reply: “And you.”

But Selt was seen walking off camera before several loud bangs and crashes could be heard backstage at the closed-door event.

World no. 33 Selt – who had made a break of 143 in Frame 1 – was appointed to the WPBSA Players Board last December, but is no longer in that role.

The Essex star has made four appearances at the Crucible World Championship and the highlight of his career was lifting the Indian Open in 2019.
