‘Feliz Navidad’ remains a holiday hit for Texans

TEXAS — Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell not. Christmas music is heavily ingrained in many Americans’ shopping experience during the holiday season, and FinanceBuzz has narrowed down the jolliest song for Texas.

For another year, the most popular Christmas carol among Texans is “Feliz Navidad,” according to FinanceBuzz. While “Jingle Bells” was the most popular song in the country, Texas and Florida both stood out from the status quo with “Feliz Navidad.”

The Spanish carol was written and recorded in 1970 by Puerto Rican artist José Feliciano. Feliciano said The New Yorker he wrote the holiday hit in 10 minutes and recorded it in one take.

While it ranks most popular among Texans, the Christmas classic also ranked third on the 10 most annoying Christmas carols, according to a separate survey by the financial publication.

The study was conducted by collecting Google Trends search interest data on the 25 Christmas songs on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week of Christmas 2023.
