Michael Buble releases new single ‘Maybe This Christmas’ featuring Carly Pearce

A five-time GRAMMY winner, he has dedicated his career to keeping timeless songs from the Great American Songbook alive and well, while proving his incredible versatility whether singing pop, jazz or R&B.

Michael Buble’ has also become a familiar face and voice around the holidays, thanks to his best-selling 2011 album Christmas. The album is so beloved that it organically re-enters the charts every year as December rolls around.

Now Buble’ has a new song to add to the list.

“Maybe This Christmas” is likely to resonate with anyone who may be facing the challenge of going through another holiday alone or has been through that experience in the past. Buble, who wrote it, says it’s a song about two people reaching out to each other with one saying, “I hurt,” and the other saying, “I hear you and I love you, and I’m thinking of you.”

He recorded it with country artist Carly Pearce. The two sat down in Nashville to talk about why they both think this song is so special.

“Honestly, because it comes from me so deeply,” Buble explained. “It’s something that happened to me, something I went through, and sometimes God just gives you the words. Sometimes you’re just a conduit.”

“This song has such heart in it,” Pearce said. “It speaks to people who feel alone at Christmas and don’t have a song that speaks to the sadness and empty feeling so many walk around feeling. I love moments where you can make people feel seen, and I think we do. And again, I’m honored that Michael asked me to be a part of it.”

Buble’ is a country music fan who knew Pearce. He invited her to serve as a playoff advisor for his team The voice.

He is a member of the coaching panel this year along with Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani.

“I love Snoop, I love Reba, and I love Gwen,” Buble explained. “And what I love most about them is that it’s not a game; it’s not a TV show where the cameras turn on and they turn into these fake people. They were there for those kids and they’re there still for the kids, even the ones that didn’t win. And when I reached out to Carly, I wanted someone to help me speak for the young artists.”

After meeting Pearce, he asked her to join him as a duet partner for this song.

(Instead of going into a studio, the two recorded their vocals for the song on an iPhone 16 Pro using the Voice Memo app. The app creates two individual tracks so users can apply additional mixing and production in professional apps like Logic Pro (Producer Greg Brønde helped bring it all together.)

Buble’ and Pearce performed “Maybe This Christmas” on Part 1 of The voice finale on Monday, December 9, the night before Buble and his artist, Sofronio, were named the season’s winner.

Less than a week later, Pearce, who is a member of the Grand Ole Opry, returned the favor. She welcomed Buble to Nashville for his first ever appearance on country music’s home stage.

“It was overwhelmingly amazing,” Buble said. “To be in this historic, incredible place with all these iconic people. To step into the famous circle for my first time ever as the Opry gets ready to celebrate its 100th anniversary. I kept thinking – this can’t be right.”

As Buble’ celebrates his latest Christmas song, he admits there was a time when he took a lot of flak for his close association with Christmas. There were jokes and endless internet memes and it used to bother him until he got a wake-up call that put his whole life and the things that matter most into perspective.

“I remember when my son was sick and it all became clear to me,” Buble recalled. (His son, now in remission, was diagnosed with liver cancer at age three.) “He was diagnosed on Halloween day and in December we were in the hospital. I thought about having been worried about how people saw me and how they would make those jokes and I had this moment of clarity. I thought, ‘My God man, these beautiful souls all over the planet have invited you into their homes to celebrate something that is so beautiful and rich and personal and you allow your ego or your insecurities to see it in a light, there is no positive. I realized there was no greater compliment.”

Today, he continues to be “blown away” by the support he receives from fans around the world. And always grateful.

“I love Christmas, I love my faith and I love these songs.”

And he believes this new one has all the hallmarks of a Christmas classic that people will listen to for years to come.

“You asked me why this one is special. It couldn’t come from a truer place,” Buble said. “Sometimes when you tell the truth, there’s an authenticity to the emotion. It is something that other people may feel but are unable to articulate. These are the songs that move people.”
