18 moments in “The White Lotus” teasers that hint at what might happen in season 3

On Monday, The white lotus dropped its official teaser for the highly anticipated third season. The show returns on February 16 on Max, and Season 3 looks to be just as high-stakes, glamorous and exciting as the past two seasons have more than proven to be.

This whodunnit series – about the lives of the staff and guests at a fictional and fancy resort chain called The White Lotus, with locations around the globe – has mastered the art of keeping the mystery alive all season. As such, the Season 3 trailer doesn’t tell us much about what’s in store this time around, but it does offer a teaser.

So here’s everything we got out of the video, but take a lot of it with a grain of salt for now:

1.The season is set in Thailand.

OK, that much we already knew. In February, Max posted a picture from the filming in Thailand on Instagram, where he announced that the third season would be set in the country. This follows Season 1 in Hawaii and Season 2 in Sicily, Italy. All seasons are filmed at Four Seasons properties. According to Travel & Leisure, Season 3 was filmed at the Four Seasons Koh Samui. Koh Samu is an island in the Gulf of Thailand. The teaser gave a few early glimpses of the property.

5.Belinda is back!

Two people in uniform receive towels. Another person in a flowered shirt speaks animatedly to them outside

Natasha Rothwell starred as Belinda, the spa manager in Season 1. Without giving too much away for those who haven’t (still, seriously?) seen the first season, she forms an unexpected friendship with one of the guests, the eccentric Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge).

Belinda did not return for season 2, but the teaser revealed the nature of Belinda’s return. “I’m on an exchange program,” she says. The press release described her as “the spa manager of The White Lotus in Hawaii.” So Belinda got a sweet work trip? Good for her!

6.There may be a connection between Belinda and an employee.

People enjoying a foot spa treatment where one person soaks their feet. Two others in spa attire look on and smile warmly

Dom Hetrakul plays the employee. As this scene plays, Belinda can be heard saying, “I’m starting to feel like something good is coming out of this.”

Oh, Belinda, I’m afraid that might not be the case based solely on the fact that this show’s characters are famously pushed to their limits. Please prove me wrong!

7.Fallout‘s Walton Goggins and Sex education‘s Aimee Lou Wood play a couple.

Two people are sitting at a table, both seem worried. The man wears a floral shirt and the woman wears a sleeveless patterned dress

According to the press release, Aimee Lou Wood plays Chelsea, “a free spirit,” while Walton Goggins plays Rick Hatchett, a “robust man with a chip on his shoulder.” The publication also describes Rick as “on-edge” and “older” than Chelsea.

This couple’s relationship is immediately shown in the teaser, with Chelsea noting that Rick need a stress management meditation, presumably one offered at the resort. However, Rick doesn’t seem to take kindly to the emphasis on health and wellness. “Gluten-free rice and coconut balls. What are we doing, a fucking fat farm?” he says.

8.Apparently, Chelsea is facing a near-death experience.

A scene with two people sitting at a table, in conversation. The woman wears a sleeveless dress; the man is wearing a patterned shirt

“I almost died today,” Chelsea says at a dinner scene with Rick, before remarking, “but we got the room made up, didn’t we, babes? That was cool.”

Rick unconvincingly replies, “Yeah, you did a good job, honey.”

9.Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sam Nivola and Sarah Catherine Hook play the Ratliffs.

Group of five people walking on a dock; three men and two women, one with an umbrella. They wear casual summer clothes and seem relaxed

Every White Lotus season has an awkward family trip, and the Ratliffs seem to be the pick this season. Jason Isaacs and Parker Posey play the parents, Timothy and Victoria. Timothy is described as a “wealthy businessman.”

Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sarah Catherine Hook and Sam Nivola play their children Saxon, Piper and Lochlan. Here’s what we know about them: Saxon works for Timothy’s “successful” business, Piper is a college student majoring in religious studies, and Lochlan is finishing high school.

We don’t learn much about them in the trailer, though we do get shots of Timothy seemingly in distress and Saxon dancing shirtless with someone in what appears to be a hotel room. However, the youngest child, Lochlan, gets one of the biggest spotlights when he says: “If everyone gave in to their baser instincts, it would be total depravity. Like a race to the bottom.”

10.Apparently someone is stealing Victoria’s Lorazepam.

Two women are depicted in separate settings: one in a floral dress checking a bag and the other sitting casually in a one-shoulder dress

In the trailer, Victoria is heard saying that someone stole her Lorazepam as we see her searching her (chic) purse. This prompts her to claim, “I’ll have to drink myself to sleep.”

12.Best friends might not exactly see eye-to-eye these days.

Three scenes from a TV show: a woman reacting at a table, a woman dancing in a club, and a woman smiling with a cup at a table

Jaclyn says in the teaser, “We should do something fun today.”

Immediately after, we see Laurie telling Kate at breakfast, “She literally lives off male attention. It’s pathetic.” A clip plays Jaclyn dancing with two men as this is said.

18.Finally, a monk seems to provide the most significant indication of what’s in store this season.
