Indiana Pacers vs New Orleans Pelicans Live Score: Highlights, Stats

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers (11-15) host the woeful New Orleans Pelicans (5-21) before beginning a nine-game stretch against teams with .500 records or better, six of them on the road. Trade acquisition Thomas Bryant is expected to be available to play. The Pelicans’ two best players – Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson – are out with injuries. Jose Alvarado is also out, with Javonte Green, Jordan Hawkins, Karlo Matkovic and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl also missing the Pelicans’ last game.

What remains of the Pelicans will be led by CJ McCollom (21.5 ppg, 33.6% on 3s, 3.8 apg), Trey Murphy III (18.2 ppg, 34.0% on 3s, 4 .5 rpg) and Dejounte Murray (16.3 ppg, 6.8 ppg) rpg). Stay tuned here for updates throughout the game:

The Pelicans cut the Pacers’ lead below double digits with a 6-2 run including a fast break layup there by Trey Murphy III. Andrew Nembhard started that break with a bad pass that required a timeout to settle.

Myles Turner just hit a 3 to punctuate (for the moment) an 8-0 run. The Pacers are still taking advantage of Pelicans contamination as Andrew Nembhard hit two free throws. The Pelicans are 2 of 10 from the floor during that period.

Thomas Bryant is starting to get his feet firmly on the ground. He just grabbed a pair of impressive rebounds and hit his first 3-pointer with the Pacers, putting him up to five points so far. The 3-pointer put the Pacers up 10, but the Pelicans followed with a 6-0 run. The Pacers are 3 of 7 from the floor in the quarter so far, while the Pelicans are 2 of 7.

The Pacers got another 3 from Tyrese Haliburton and a bucket from TJ McConnell to end the period. At the end of one, they are 9 of 17 from the floor, 4 of 10 from 3, 9 of 10 from the line for 1.32 points per game. possession. The Pelicans are 11 of 24, 3 of 9, 3 of 3 for 1.11 points per. possession. The Pelicans won the rebounding game 12-5 in the first quarter with five offensive rebounds to the Pacers’ zero, which does not bode well.

The Pacers answered the Pelicans 8-2 to start a 12-0 run to take the lead, and they’ve been in front for the most part since. The Pelicans have done them some favors by committing six fouls as the Pacers are already 9 of 10 at the line. but the Pacers are also 7 of 12 from the field and 3 of 7 from 3. Obi Toppin has a pair of 3s and Tyrese Haliburton just hit the last one. Thomas Bryant made his Pacers debut in the first quarter and got on the board with a jump shot, but he was pulled after committing a defensive three-second violation.

The Pelicans got a few too easy buckets at the rim and Rick Carlisle calls a quick timeout. Pelicans are 3 of 4 from the floor right out of the gate. Pacers 1 of 3 with a driving layup by Bennedict Mathurin as the only bucket so far.

Pacers same lineup as usual. The Pelicans still have a strong one despite the injuries.

The Pacers’ injury report is the same as it has been. Wings Aaron Nesmith (left ankle sprain) and Ben Sheppard (left oblique strain) are still out. Centers James Wiseman and Isaiah Jackson are out long-term with Achilles tendon tears.

The Pelicans’ injury report is more comprehensive. All-Star forward Zion Williamson and point guard Jose Alvarado are both out with left hamstring strains. All-Star Brandon Ingram is out with a left ankle sprain. Sharp-shooting sophomore guard Jordan Hawkins is out with an annular fissure in his lumbar spine. Forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl is out with a non-COVID illness and big man Karlo Matkovic is out with a herniated disc in his lower back. A few days of practice at their own facility seemed to give the Pacers an opportunity to reset, and the brand of basketball they played Friday in Philadelphia seemed much closer to their ideal than whatever they did in last Sunday’s loss to Charlotte. It would be overstating the case to suggest that all of their problems have been solved when they played a Philadelphia team that lost Joel Embiid just before halftime to a sinus fracture and hasn’t had much time to coordinate its stars, but in on Sunday will face another snakebitten team that has spent the entire year shorthanded. The Pelicans will be without All-Stars Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, defensive pest Jose Alvarde, sharpshooter Jordan Hawkins and big man Karlo Matkovic. Herb Jones, who missed the last game with the Pacers, is back, but their collection of injuries has led a talented roster to the worst record in the Western Conference at 5-21. They have lost three straight, 12 of their last 13 and 18 of 20 since beating the Pacers on Nov. 1 with a lineup that was close to full strength. The Pacers have struggled in the past to take short-handed rosters seriously, but they can’t afford to give games away with a brutal stretch at the end of the calendar year starting Thursday in Phoenix. They will do enough to take care of business in this one.
