Myles Garrett is doubtful to return with eye injury

Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett suffered a left eye injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Chiefs.

The injury occurred on a Patrick Mahomes 6-yard touchdown pass to Noah Gray that capped a 14-play, 87-yard drive. Garrett rushed Joe Thuney, who plays left tackle after last week’s injury to DJ Humphries. Thuney apparently scraped Garrett across the face, possibly hitting his eye.

Garrett tossed off his helmet and turned to the ground as Mahomes waved over to the sideline for coaching help.

After standing up, Garrett immediately went to the locker room for further evaluation. Thuney came up to Garrett as the defensive end was leaving the field, apparently to wish him luck.

The Chiefs have a 14-0 lead over the Browns late in the second quarter.

UPDATE 2:27 PM ET: Garrett has returned to the field with a visor on his helmet late in the second quarter.
