Chris Rock Hosts ‘SNL,’ Longtime Friend Adam Sandler Makes Cameo: Watch

Chris Rock brought the laughs Saturday Night Live — with a little help from Adam Sandler.

The actor and comedian, 59, hosted the late-night comedy sketch series for the fourth time on Dec. 14, when he was joined by Gracie Abrams as the musical guest.

In one sketchRock played a doctor performing surgery on a patient who accidentally has their gallbladder removed instead of their appendix thanks to a mistake made by another surgeon.

At one point, the previously covered patient sits up and reveals that they are Sandler, 58. As he talks to the medical staff about the mix-up, blood starts shooting out of his body, covering the doctors from head to toe.

Rock and his longtime friend Sandler played along SNL together in the 1990s. In the years since, they have starred in several films together, including 2005’s The longest farmThe 2010s Adults The 2013s Adults 2 and the 2018s The week off.

Elsewhere during the show, Rock participated in various skits, including one where he going on a blind date and another where he portrays an elf in a mall in the middle of the holiday season.

Another saw him and various SNL stars portray workers participate in their annual work Christmas party.

Under her SNL musical guest debut, Abrams, 25, first performed “It’s so true” from her The secret behind us album.

Later in the show, she returned to the stage to sing “I love you, I’m sorry.”

SNL announced the cast for its milestone 50th season earlier this year.

Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline have been added to the sketch comedy show’s roster, while Punkie Johnson, Chloe Troast and Molly Kearney have all stepped away. Returning cast members Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker, meanwhile, were promoted to the main cast after two years each as featured players.

Michael Che, Colin Jost, James Austin Johnson, Bowen Yang, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman and Kenan Thompson round out the rest of the cast.

Next to host SNL is Martin Short with musical guest Hozier on December 21.
