A wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is expected; smooth driving conditions can accumulate | Weather

SUMMARY OF FORECASTS

A wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is expected for a period as the precipitation starts on Sunday evening before eventually changing to all rain. Any snow accumulation and icing should be light. At this time, snow accumulations are expected to be around a coating to an inch or two from the Blue Mountains ridge north into the Poconos, Schuylkill County and far northwestern New Jersey. South of these areas down to about I-78, only one pavement is expected at most. Any icing will be less than a tenth of an inch. All rain is expected across the Philadelphia metro area, the I-95 corridor and the Southeast. Precipitation is expected to move in Sunday evening. Precipitation is expected to begin as a wintry mix near and north of the I-78 corridor with all snow likely north of the Blue Mountain ridge. Precipitation is expected to change to all rain overnight Sunday for the I-78 corridor, but perhaps as late as early Monday morning near and north of I-80. While snow and ice accumulations should be light, even these light amounts can create slick driving conditions and could negatively impact the Monday morning commute.
