“Since I posted an edible Christmas tree ornament recipe the other day, you could be forgiven for thinking that I’ve actually hung real slices of crispy streaky bacon on my tree this year, but they’re actually actual ornaments – and I’m crazy with them!” she wrote.

“They are from @souschefuk and the whole collection is divine. Some time ago I started giving a food-focused ornament a year to a friend, and it’s grown into a pretty nice tradition, I think – it’s the Christmas equivalent of getting charms for a bracelet. (I actually started out on my own with just the one glistening dangling strip of bacon).”

“And in general, if you want to find a fabulous gift for a foodie friend – or just yourself – this is the website you need. It’s my first port of call for ingredients you won’t necessarily find in the supermarket. They also make gift card, which doesn’t abdicate responsibility for choosing, but rather gives them the deep joy of indulging!” she continued.

And while they were just decorations, her followers joked that they wouldn’t be surprised if she went so far as to hang real bacon on her tree.

“Nigella, no one would judge you for putting real bacon on your tree… I think we’d probably love you even more… if that’s even possible?!?!” Chef and TV presenter Sabrina Ghayour-Lynn commented.
