Selmer police officer killed in the line of duty

SELMER, Tenn. – This afternoon we received information from several tipsters that an officer was killed in the line of duty in McNairy County.

We reached out to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to find out more information.

We received the following statement in response.

“At the request of 25th Judicial District Attorney General Mark Davidson, TBI agents are investigating the circumstances leading to a fatal shooting in McNairy County involving officers from the Selmer Police Department. The incident happened this afternoon in the 100 block of New Bethel Road in Selmer. Two people were fatally shot during the incident, one of whom was a Selmer police officer.
