The Phoenix area is expected to have poor air quality but good weekend temperatures

PHOENIX (AZ Family) — Our run of above-normal temperatures continues, as every day in December has been above average.

Highs were a bit cooler again on Friday with a dry system passing north of us. Highs were generally in the upper 60s across the valley, where the average high for this time of year was 66 degrees.

Expect partly cloudy skies on Saturday with temperatures near 72 degrees. This cold, very dry air mass has stagnated over the valley, which has encouraged no combustion days Thursday and Friday with a high pollution advisory called for Saturday.

You can do your part by skipping any gas-powered lawnmowers or blowers for the lawn this weekend.

It is also helpful to reduce driving and not burn wood in your fireplaces or fire pits outside to take the chill off at night.

Dry and warmer than average next week with highs in the mid to even upper 70s across the valley.

It will be partly cloudy for the high country on Saturday, with a slight chance of showers on the Kaibab Plateau.

Other than that, the chance of rain or snow looks slim in the mountains into next week.
