The Golden State Warriors traded Brooklyn Nets guard Dennis Schröder on Saturday afternoon, according to the release ESPN’s Shams Charania. In return, the Nets get De’Anthony Melton and three future second-round draft picks. The Warriors will also get a future second-round pick in the deal.

The deal will be official on Sunday when the trade window opens for the season.

Schröder has averaged 18.4 points and 6.6 assists per game this season, his first with the Nets. They traded for him midway through last season with the Toronto Raptors. The Warriors will now mark Schröder’s eighth team in his 12 seasons in the league. Schröder is in the final year of a two-year, $25.4 million deal he originally signed with the Raptors prior to last season.

The Nets are just 10-15 and have lost five of their last six heading into Monday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Nets officially hired Jordi Fernandez as their head coach in April after missing the playoffs for the first time in six years last season. The team has only won a single playoff series in that span.

Melton averaged 10.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game with the Warriors this season, his first with the team. He signed a one-year, $12.8 million deal with the team last season after spending the last two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers. Melton went down with a torn ACL last month and will miss the rest of the season recovering.

The Warriors have a 14-10 record heading into Sunday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. They reached the quarterfinals of the NBA Cup, but were eliminated by the Houston Rockets in a one-point loss that left coach Steve Kerr upset with the officials. Schröder’s arrival should give them a significant boost offensively as they try to get back to the playoffs for the third time in the last four seasons.
