Army-Navy game: Score, live updates, how to watch

When searching for the definition of a rivalry, Army and Navy fit the description to a tee. The timeless rivalry has featured down-to-the-wire contests, blowouts and lengthy winning streaks dating back to 1890.

This year’s postseason matchup marks the 125th meeting between the two, with Navy leading the series 62-55-7, backed by a 14-game winning streak spanning the 2000s.

HISTORY: Final scores for each Army-Navy game

With the last three games separated by just 13 points in total, here’s a look back at the last two meetings that were decided at the last minute.

  • December 9, 2023: The Army 17, the Navy 11

With less than 22 seconds left in the contest, Navy trailed 17-9 and needed just six yards and a successful two-point conversion to send the rivalry game into overtime for the second straight year.

Lined up at the Black Knights’ 6-yard line on first-and-goal, chances would be slim for any team’s defense to make a goal-line stand under such conditions.

But Army did just that, keeping the Midshipmen from scoring at the 6-yard line on three straight downs and at the 2 on fourth down.

  • 10 December 2022: Army 20, Navy 17 (2OT)

The first overtime game in series history, the Army-Navy matchup lived up to the historic feat.

A slugfest filled with 18 punts, the game took a new shape in the first overtime. Both teams scored on the first play of their possessions to force a second overtime. The Midshipmen slowed things down in the second overtime with six straight runs, but still found themselves on the doorstep of the end zone — the 3-yard line on third and goal.

That’s when things got crazy.

When running back Anton Hall Jr. trying to dive into the end zone, Army defensive lineman Austin Hill fumbled the football while defensive lineman Darius Richardson recovered it.

The fumble set up Black Knights kicker Quinn Maretzki for a game-winning 39-yard field goal to give Army its second straight victory over Navy.
