Tracking winter weather impacts Friday night and Saturday morning

The light freezing rain will continue overnight at times as warmer air and moisture continue to move in from the south. Eventually, temperatures will push above freezing from south to north, changing the freezing rain to regular cold rain south of I-80. But it can take until around 3 to 6 a.m. for Omaha to get above freezing. Neighborhoods north of i-80 may not get above freezing until after Saturday morning.

Saturday morning will see mostly scattered rain over eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, but there may still be pockets of freezing rain north of Omaha. By noon Saturday, most cities will be at or above freezing, and there may be a few remnant showers in the afternoon, keeping us mostly cloudy. Highs will be in the upper 30s.

Widespread power outages aren’t expected from the ice, but keep your phones and tablets charged just in case a few neighborhoods lose power.

Sunday will be windy and warmer with highs in the mid 40s and a mix of sun and clouds.

It will remain breezy Monday, but we’ll keep temperatures a touch above average in the mid-40s.

It will start to get cooler again Tuesday with low 40s and some sunshine.

We’ll drop into the low 30s Wednesday with a little more wind.

Thursday looks mostly sunny with a high near 40.
