AND Maco hospitalized after suicide attempt, on life support

Rapper AND Macoborn Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr., is fighting for his life at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after being shot in the head.

The 32-year-old was found unresponsive in his home Thursday morning after a 911 call from a neighbor who reported hearing a gunshot. Authorities rushed him to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and was put on life support.

In a statement to AllHipHopOG Maco’s manager, Poppa Perc, confirmed the dire situation. “I thought he was dead when I first saw him,” he said. “We were preparing to rebrand and release new music under a different alias. Right now we need everyone’s prayers.” However, he tempered expectations, adding: “Don’t get your hopes up. We don’t have much information and they won’t even let us visit him in the hospital.”

OG Maco first came to prominence in 2014 with his viral hit You guessed it. The track, which features a remix featuring 2 Chainz, broke into the Billboard Hot 100 and cemented him as a rising star in hip-hop. Signed to Quality Control Music, he collaborated with numerous artists and gained a reputation for his distinctive sound and raw energy.

Despite its early success, Maco has faced significant challenges in recent years. A devastating car accident in 2016 left him with multiple injuries, and in 2019 he revealed that he had been diagnosed with a rare skin disorder. Both incidents tested his resilience, but he remained committed to his music and creative pursuits.

The shooting marks another tragic turn in the life of a rapper who has repeatedly overcome adversity. As his condition remains critical, fans and loved ones are left hoping for a miracle.
