Milton Jones on being ravaged by Paul Weller and Robbie Williams

Stand-up comedian Milton Jones has opened up about a strange encounter he once had with a pair of very famous hecklers.

In an interview with The Guardianspoke the award-winning deadpan comic about the surreal experience of being interrupted by Paul Weller and Robbie Williams – at the same concert.

Answering a question about the strangest encounters he’s had with fans, he replied: “Hardly a fan, but one time I was ravaged by Paul Weller. It wasn’t aggressive, but of course everyone was just looking at him, not me .”

“Then later, in the same show, someone else called out and it was Robbie Williams. Weird gig!”

In other Weller news, he has curated a list of artists to perform at a ‘Gig For Gaza’ charity show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on December 13, with Primal Scream and Kneecap among the names joining him for the show.

In May, Paul Weller expressed his support for Palestine by saying he was “against genocide and ethnic cleansing”. His recent live shows have seen him appear on stage with a Palestinian flag draped over his guitar amp.

He also made his big acting debut in Steve McQueen’s World War II drama Flashwhich is now streaming on Apple TV+. Saoirse Ronan, Stephen Graham, Kathy Burke and Benjamin Clementine star alongside him.

McQueen spoke about his choice to cast the Modfather in the role. “With Paul, I just thought there was an authenticity to his face,” the director said.

“He looks like a person from that time. He also writes and performs his own songs, so I thought he must be able to play. He was doubtful but trusted me and we got him an acting coach and he gained confidence every day. He’s such a handsome man.”

Williams, meanwhile, is preparing the release of his semi-autobiographical film Better manwhere he is depicted as a CGI monkey.

Charting his life and career, from his early childhood to his first taste of success with Take That, the film is directed and co-written by Michael Gracey (The greatest showman).
